The Immersion Blender was invented in Switzerland by Roger Perrinjaquet, who patented the idea on the 6th of March in the year 1950. This new kitchen appliance was then called “bamix” from the French word “bat et mixe” meaning beating and mixing. In the European professional kitchen this gadget was in use for a long time before being introduced in US during 80’s.

This kitchen machine is also known by many different names, such as wand blender, hand blender, stick blender, quick stick, Bermixer and boat motor. It’s a tall narrow machine with rotary blades at the other functional end. This Immersion Blender has served from domestic kitchens to commercial kitchens, providing comfort and ease to housewives and chefs. Most of the major players in the world of manufacturing kitchen appliances, Immersion Blenders have topped their list for demand and sales.

The whole idea of this small handy appliance is to keep kitchen less messy and chores more convenient. Instead of using a blender or a food processor or messing up the kitchen table with spill over by transferring food into the carafe, an Immersion Blender is equipped so that no transferring is required. An Immersion Blender must be distinguished from food processor, blenders and hand mixers. Food processors and blenders both need special container for the machine to function, whereas Immersion Blender can be used in any vessel to do the work. Immersion Blenders can puree soups and emulsify sauces with the same ease.

Over a period of time, and with growing popularity of Immersion Blenders, manufacturers have upgraded this kitchen appliance. With the advent of better and more powerful models, immersion blenders are must have kitchen appliance. To offer a better deal, manufacturers are coming up with different options where in models have variable speed and detachable blades. An assorted set of blades can perform almost all the functions. A quality immersion blender comes with an impressive collection of paraphernalia. Blade’s ranging from stainless steel to plastic discs, to do more than one work. Some have even offered extended stainless steel shaft and variable motor speed.

Leading the race of Immersion Blender is the Cuisinart Immersion Blender Smart Stick. This company recently launched two very advanced versions. One of the models Smart Stick has an extendable shaft and it’s cordless. As the handheld immersion is put into action, it creates a sort of whirlpool blending food perfectly. Good for whipping and making butter from cream in under 30 seconds!

This long and slim blending machine has added advantage to ease the kitchen work, especially on soft food items. With shafts available from 10 inches to 24 inches, comes with a warranty of one year. Convenient to use, it will follow you rather than you following the machine. It’s an excellent small kitchen appliance that can be fitted on to a bowl, saucepan, pot and other vessels. Cooking was never so fun and easy.
