The first Vita Mix corporation blender was introduced in the United States market in 1937 by the self taught salesman of modern home products WG Barnard. In 1949 with the introduction of television, WG Barnard’s son decided to promote his products through the tube. It proved to be an ideal platform to showcase and demonstrate the benefits of their product and they made the most of this opportunity. They booked a 30 minutes slot on WEWS TV and created United State’s first ever direct response commercial.



This 30 minute commercial played an instrumental role in making the Vita Mix a household name in many United States homes. In 1955 Bill Barnard took over the reigns of Vita Mix Corporation from his father to run it along with his wife. Bill believed in delivering what the customers wanted. Every aspect of his business thrived on customer satisfaction. The Vita Mix Corporation till date follows those ideals and is focused on customer satisfaction even today.

Revolution in a market that they had created came when the Vita mix 4000 hit retail racks. Machines that were capable of freezing and dispensing ice cream, cook soup and make juices were the talk of the town. In the 1980’s Grover Barnard, Bill’s son took over Vita Mix Corporation as president. He expanded the United States operations into Canada. His brother John was in charge of the engineering department and together they created a company to reckon with. The team is known to have given the United States the Vita mix commercial blender known as the Mix’n Machine popularly. This mix blender gave rise to number of other products like mix super, adding feather after feather for the vita mix corporation in the high speed world. In similarity with other products of the company the commercial blender rose to the pinnacle and the introduction of stainless steel containers became a unique selling point for the company. Next in 1992 into the foodservice market came the 2 speed Drink Machine.

Over the years the Vita Mix Corporation a primarily family run organization has transformed itself into a global brand. The company is nearly 90 years old and it continues to spread its wings further everyday.
